Phillies' Pitcher Madson's Wife Cries Foul

Recently, pitcher Ryan Madson and his wife Sarah hosted a fundraiser for Manna, the organization that provides meals to aids and cancer patients. Eagles offensive tackle Winston Justice and his wife Dania were the other hosts.

Madson humbly called himself “the entertainment.” But he was much more. He raised $750 for Manna by auctioning off an autographed Manna T shirt with his number on it. Both Madsons said they do not have their own foundation but like to “lend their support to a variety of charities.”

Sarah Madson, festooned with a necklace made from the top of a World Series ring that the Phillies gave all the players wives, is five months pregnant with her fourth child. The Madsons are hoping for a girl because their daughter wants a little sister.

Just back from spring training, she complaining that “her house (a mansion on the mainline) looked like a bomb had hit it.” Maybe that is why she decided to unload on the fans.

Sarah Madson declared, “I hate the fans. It is bad enough that they bother us during the season, but they will not leave us alone in December when we go out to eat. We stayed here during the off season last year, but we will be going to California this year. There must be something particularly bad about Phillies fans because all the players leave in the off season.”

She had particular snappish words for the female fans of her husband. “Can you believe that they have the gall to give my husband their number in front of me?”

The Justices were busy that week. The next night, they were hosting a benefit the next night at their coffee shop Elixr for the Japanese Red Cross.

  1. Screw her, fits right in with the mainline snob bitches.

  2. Hey, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt to a woman who is "5 months pregnant with her 4th child." This is a lady who, given any hormone imbalance, is capable of neutering a grown man with one swipe of her claws without any afterthought.

And a jury of 12 mothers wouldn't convict...

  4. Maybe Ryan kicked her fat head when he broke his toe last year. I would understand it.

  5. Eww..what a bitch! If it weren't for THOSE fans and the fact that her husband is even a major league player, she wouldn't even be wearing that damn ring or living on the Mainline (my guess). What an ungrateful bitch. All she knows how to do is pop out babies..she really should keep her ugly mouth shut.

  7. Am I crazy or was Ryan Madson single this time last season?

  8. Very unfortunate although I'm sure she's just venting. All the attention and the fan mania (especially if Ryan's having a bad night on the mound) have got to be TOUGH. And it can't be easy having women throw themselves at your husband. Especially if you're big and pregnant and the groupies are young and thin....

I'm sympathetic but she does need to remember that fan-appreciation is part of her job. And being in the public eye means NEVER venting to anyone unless you're behind closed doors with trusted friends.

  9. Oh, right. Like Sarah Madson has even the slightest idea of what she is talking about. Hello? Sarah? Philadelphia is known as a city where it's pro athletes settle down to live, long after their playing days are over. And yeah, Cliff Lee hated our fans so much he chose to live here over that Holy Grail of cities to our north. I guess she would prefer to live somewhere that she and her husband can be completely anonymous, like in Tampa Bay or Seattle. But no one there would care enough to print her ridiculous opinions.

  11. The writer of this blog is an attention-seeking ex-con (I'm not kidding - google her) who is misquoting and or outright lying. She's picking on a pregnant lady, too. how low!

  12. Here's an article defending Sarah Madson (whether she actually made these comments or not). http://www.phlsportsfan.com/2011/04/14/in-defense-of-sarah-madson/#more-3592

  13. I think this is fabrication. The madson's don't live on the mainline and instead live in south jersey. She obviously does not have her facts straight.

  14. I get the whole blog thing, you don't have an editor, and so on and so on. However, you could maybe check your grammar before you hit post, especially if you publishing a piece that may garner some attention.

I'm sure you meant to say that she cries "FOUL" in your title, not fowl, as in chicken.

  15. Your background is the wrong color, Laura. This is yellow journalism at it's best. I don't know what flew while you were in exile for 9 years, but this doesn't fly in Philly.

  16. This blog is a fraud. No credibility, take caution Phillie fans

  17. Not only is this unsupported and likely fraudulant, but it's the worst written "blog" I've ever read, devoid of context, and almost incomprehensible.

  18. WOW!!! You consider yourself a reporter and a journalist? You are posting your ramblings on highly unprofessional blog site. Do you even have a background in writing or any sort of journalistic activity? As a senior at Penn State and a journalism student, I am disgusted with the manner in which you "interviewed" Mrs. Madson. Take your licks from a real team of writers and journalists, shut up, and take responsibility for your irresponsible actions. You are the reason people do not respect the media. You have no business even "reporting" on things that you have no idea about and you need to apologize to the Madson family

  19. If you want to be a "reporter", learn how to spell.

  21. So let me get this straight ..... you went to a fundraiser for an organization that provides meals to AIDS and cancer patients, to ask "leading" questions of the five month pregnant wife of the star athlete with whom she was co-hosting the event, all while not representing yourself as a member of "the Press"..... have we about got that right, lady?

    And you're PROUD of this???
